CITY’S NOTICE TO BUYERS OF AUCTION VEHICLES
Now that you own a new vehicle, there are several steps ahead of you that are required before you take possession of your new vehicle. If you follow these steps, you will save yourself time and avoid complications.

Steps to Complete
1. Please plan to personally pick up the original Certificate of Title for your new vehicle located at the City of Coconut Creek City Hall, 4800 W. Copans Rd., Coconut Creek, Florida, 33063. Upon proof of your identity as the owner (valid identification), the original Certificate of Title will be signed over to you by an authorized representative of the City of Coconut Creek.
2. You must take the original Certificate of Title to a Florida Tax Collector’s office or another authorized motor vehicle processing department within two (2) business days from your receipt of the Certificate of Title in order to transfer the title into your own name. Be certain that you take along your original bill of sale (sales receipt) that you were given when you paid for your vehicle after the auction. It will serve as proof that you are the rightful owner and that you have paid all required sales taxes on the purchase.
3. At the same time that you transfer title, you will also register your new vehicle so that you have a valid (temporary) license plate to attach to the vehicle before you take it onto any public street. Note that in order to register your new vehicle you will be required to show proof of valid vehicle insurance required by Florida law.
4. Bring your new Certificate of Title, (temporary) license plate, and valid identification back to the City of Coconut Creek City Hall during business hours within three (3) business days after your receipt of the original Certificate of Title. We will then give you the keys and turn the vehicle over to you.

Reminders
1. Under Florida law, ownership of your vehicle transferred to you the moment the auctioneer announced that you were the successful bidder. If you have not already done so, contact your insurance agent immediately to get appropriate coverage for your new vehicle. Take this obligation seriously. You are now responsible for any loss that occurs to your new vehicle, or which is caused by it, while it remains on City premises. The City’s insurance policy no longer covers this vehicle.
2. Unless you have made other arrangements in advance with City Management, this entire process must be completed within five (5) business days after the auctioneer announced that you were the successful bidder. After that time, we reserve the right to charge you a daily storage fee of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00), which must be paid before you can receive your keys.

Dealers are exempt from the title transfer requirements but must bring a copy of their dealer’s license.

The Seller DOES NOT provide transportation or loading services for buyers to remove their merchandise. Any and all methods of lifting, towing, and hauling, as well as all other methods or requirements for the removal and transport of the materials, equipment and/or vehicles, is the sole responsibility of the buyer. The ownership of any and all items not removed by the final day of removal will revert back to the Seller and they may re-sell or dispose of the property as they see fit.
